What We Disclose.
What Most Shops Don't.
This isn't a marketing claim — it's a checklist. Compare our standard practice against what you'll find at the average shop. Every row is a conversation you should be having with whoever touches your machines.
| Criteria | TORQUE | Industry Standard |
|---|---|---|
Labor Hour Breakdown Every task listed with its exact hour count on the invoice | Line-item on every invoice | Total hours only, no breakdown |
Pre-Approval Photo Set Photos of worn/failed components sent before parts are ordered | Full photo set, customer approves | Verbal description or none |
Old Parts Returned Replaced components handed back to the customer | Bagged, labeled, returned at pickup | Discarded unless requested |
Diagnostic Fee Structure Exact diagnostic cost disclosed before work begins | Flat $185 — waived if you proceed | Bundled in or disclosed at billing |
Customer Sign-Off Gate Work pauses for customer approval before reassembly | Required before every reassembly | Shop discretion — often skipped |
Teardown Documentation Timestamped photos at each disassembly phase | Every phase, shared via link | Rarely documented, rarely shared |
Parts Source Disclosure OEM vs. aftermarket decision explained and approved | Written comparison, you choose | Shop decides, not disclosed |
Estimate Accuracy Final invoice within agreed estimate range | Within 5% or we call first | 10–30% overrun common |

Every job we take gets the same treatment — no exceptions, no shortcuts.
CAT 320 GC Hydraulic
Pump Rebuild — Start to Finish.
This is an actual job, not a case study. Every phase below happened exactly this way. This is what every job looks like when it comes through our bay.
Machine Intake & Initial Diagnosis
CAT 320 GC arrives with reported hydraulic lag on the stick. Technician performs initial walkaround, records fault codes via ET, and documents all visible wear before the machine enters the bay.
- Full walkaround video recorded
- 14 intake photos catalogued
- ET diagnostic report exported
- Customer emailed intake summary

Teardown & Condition Assessment
Main hydraulic pump removed. Internal inspection reveals worn barrel assembly and a cracked port plate. Every component photographed and measured against OEM tolerances before any part is ordered.
- Pump pulled and disassembled
- Barrel wear measured: 0.008" over tolerance
- Port plate crack documented with macro photos
- Parts list sent to customer with OEM vs. reman pricing

Customer Approval Gate
Work stops. Photo set and parts list sent to fleet manager Marcus Delgado via link. Written approval received before any parts are ordered. This is the sign-off that doesn't exist at most shops.
- Full photo set shared via link
- Written estimate: $4,840 parts + 12.5 hrs labor
- Customer approval received: same day
- OEM port plate selected by customer

Rebuild & Reassembly
New barrel assembly and OEM port plate installed. Pump reassembled to spec, bench-tested at 5,000 PSI before reinstallation. Hydraulic system flushed, new filter installed, system bled and cycled.
- New OEM port plate torqued to spec
- Bench test: 5,000 PSI — zero leak-down
- System flush: 4 gallons Caterpillar HYDO Advanced
- Full system cycle: 45 minutes before road test

Final Documentation & Customer Sign-Off
Machine road-tested on-site. Final photo set generated. Invoice issued with every labor hour line-itemed. Old pump components bagged and labeled. Customer picks up with full documentation package.
- Road test: 2 hours on-site under load
- Final invoice: 18.5 hrs documented line-by-line
- Old parts returned: pump, seals, port plate, filter
- Digital documentation package emailed at pickup

These Aren't
Manufactured.
They're inevitable when you operate this openly. Every review below includes the machine model, the job type, and the hours documented — because that's how accountability works.
"They sent photos of every worn seal before ordering parts. I approved the line items from the truck stop. Back on-site in 4 days — that's never happened at any shop I've used in 18 years."
"They handed me the old seals in a zip-lock bag when I picked up. Showed me the crack in the pump housing on their tablet. No guesswork, no surprises on the invoice — $4,220 exactly as quoted."
"Needed a 330 back on the trailer Friday. They called Wednesday morning with the final photo set and sign-off sheet. Machine went out on time. That's the kind of shop you put on retainer."
"The diagnostic fee was $185, waived when we proceeded — that's the first time a shop has ever disclosed that up front. Stick cylinder rebuild came in at exactly the estimate. I've sent three machines since."
"I was skeptical of the photo documentation thing — thought it was a gimmick. Then they found a cracked swing motor housing I didn't know about and showed me the photo before charging me a dime for it."
"Running a fleet this size, I need shops that operate like a system, not a personality. Torque has a checklist, they follow it, and they send me the paperwork. That's all I need. They've seen 9 of our machines."
